This is likely an easy way for Chevy to make the Trax look more rugged while saving on paint costs. Lower trim levels are burdened with an allover plastic look. That’s despite the black plastic panels used along the lower bumper areas and down each side of the vehicle. The top-tier Premier trim nearly manages to pull off a sleek appearance with larger wheels and body-colored door handles. There’s not much to say about the Trax’s styling, other than that it’s inoffensive and pleasant, if not cutting edge, and some buyers view that as a virtue. Offered in LS, LT, and Premier trim levels with one engine and transmission choice across the model line, it’s the embodiment of why the keep-it-simple ethos works.
